LightAir CellFlow Mini 100. The Best Budget Air Purifier For Small Rooms?

LightAir CellFlow Mini 100 Air Purifier Ioniser Black On Desk - Aerify

It is well known that, like clean water, clean air is critical to our health and well-being.  So having an air purifier in your home is a good idea, though deciding what to get may be a challenge, especially if you're on a tight budget.

If the size of your room is not more than 20 square meters, then the CellFlow Mini 100 could be just what you are looking for.  Find out more about why we believe the CellFlow Mini 100 offers great value to anyone looking for clean air and a healthier lifestyle.

Medical-grade air purification

The CellFlow technology was developed by LightAir in partnership with the Swedish KTH Royal Institute of Technology.  Based on the electrostatic principle, this technology efficiently captures up to 99.99% of particles as small as PM0.1 and below.  This was tested according to the worldwide standard NC AHAM - AC-1-215 by Intertek Group PLC in the United Kingdom).

These small particles are known as ultrafine particles.  They occur in high numbers in the air, enter the body through the lungs and pose a serious health risk as they can enter the bloodstream.

In urban environments, on-road vehicles, industries and power plants are the primary sources of ultra-fine particulate matter emissions. Electronic cigarettes that have increased in popularity in recent years are a source of inhaled PM0.1.

Studies have demonstrated that exposure to PM0.1 can cause cardiovascular disease, reproductive and developmental harm, affect the central nervous system and increase the risk of hypertension and diabetes.

HEPA filter vs EcoPrecisionTM filter

For medical-grade particulate filtration, the CellFlow Mini 100 uses a combination of ionisation technology and the unique low-air resistance EcoPrecisionTM filter.  The main differences between the two filters are summarised in the following table:

Removes at least 99.97% of particles sized 0.3 microns
A HEPA filter captures 99.97% of the 0.3 micron size particles like dust, pollen and smoke.

Removes at least 99.99% of particles sized 0.1 microns

The EcoPrecisionTM filter captures 99.99% of particles up to 0.1 microns, including viruses and bacteria. It also removes bigger particles like dust, pollen, smoke and pet dander.

Catches viruses and bacteria

Can allow germs to grow because they are simply caught in the filter.

  Neutralises viruses and bacteria

High-density ionisation neutralises 99.99% of germs before they are trapped in the filter.

Uses more energy

Because of the high density of HEPA filters, more powerful fans are needed to provide adequate airflow.

  Uses less energy

A less dense EcoPrecisionTM filter means that the air purifier fan can operate at lower speeds, resulting in less energy - about one third of energy than conventional air purifiers measured per unit of clean air.

Creates more noise

To push enough air through a dense HEPA filter, the air purifier fan must run at a higher speed, which creates more noise.

  Creates less noise

A less dense EcoPrecisionTM filter means that the air purifier fan can operate at lower speeds, resulting in significantly less noise.

Provides less clean air

Because the fibres are densely packed, they create a very small pathway for air to travel through resulting in less clean.

  Provides more clean air

The EcoPrecisionTM filter is less dense, resulting in an exceptionally high clean air flow.

Non recyclable

HEPA filters are not recyclable and require disposal after use, causing environmental pollution.

The EcoPrecisionTM filter, made from recycled materials, is cleanable and recyclable, making it a green option.

How does the CellFlow Mini 100 clean the air?

  • Firstly, air particles are negatively charged by the high-density ioniser.
  • Secondly, the air passes through the coarse pre-filter which traps larger particles such as dust and hair.
  • Finally, the air is forced through the positively charged EcoPrecisionTM filter where contaminants of up to PM0.1 are eliminated.

As a result, clean air is distributed in a 360° pattern free from fine dust, pet dander, pollen, traffic pollution, mould spores, viruses, bacteria, printer particles and volatile organic compounds.

Aerify's test in a small room

We decided to test this compact electrostatic air purifier in a small room using a laser air particle sensor.  This short video shows how quickly the CellFlow Mini 100 running at maximum speed could reduce the amount of particles in the air.

Final thoughts

The LightAir CellFlow Mini 100 can supply a sufficient amount of clean air in a small room, with low noise and power consumption and at an affordable price.  It has a minimalist Scandinavian design, it is simple to use and very portable. No wonder this compact magic help has been one of Aerify's favourites and best sellers.
